AIRONAUT is an AI-led system of smart-PPE and Environmental Control that monitors, protects, and empowers you against air pollution, pathogens, and allergens — advancing health from individual to community scale.
Our Vision
Air quality is an invisible threat affecting health, performance and productivity. Current solutions don't adapt to the individual or their environment. AIRONAUT is building a next-generation AI-driven platform that monitors real-world exposure, supports smarter protective technology, and connects personal data with buildings, vehicles and infrastructure to improve safety for everyone.
The Problem
Confronting the Air Quality Crisis
Air pollution, pathogens, and allergens pose a growing threat to public health, workforce productivity, and economic stability.
Pollution, pandemics, wildfire particulates, industrial emissions, and indoor contaminants expose billions to chronic health risks.
Traditional masks and AQI apps fail to reflect personal vulnerability or localised hazards.
Networks, workplaces and public buildings need actionable solutions for compliance and ventilation requirements.
Governments lack real-world, high-resolution data to inform policy and standards.
Individuals with respiratory vulnerabilities lack personalised guidance.
AIRONAUT changes that — at the individual level, and at the scale of cities.
How We Solve It
A comprehensive platform combining smart PPE, personal monitoring, and data analytics.
Visualise and avoid exposure across space and time.
Smarter decisions to reduce exposure.
Monitor physiology and report hazards on the go. Available for demonstration on application.
Connect to airflow and filtration systems in buildings and on transport to optimise air quality at home, work, and during travel.
Advanced data analytics and publishable research to advance public health, regional policy, and actionable regulatory standards in partnership with private industry.
Beyond Personal Protection
Tap into existing ventilatory and filtration systems to optimise health and safety compliance across buildings and cities.
National Security capability to track and limit outbreaks of pollution and pandemics, while maintaining transport and infrastructural operational capabilities.
Publishable data that informs regional and national agendas.
From individual healthspan to workforce-level productivity.
Aggregated, anonymised exposure data becomes a powerful asset for cities, researchers, and health systems — driving decisions beyond what any static sensor network can achieve.
A living network of personal air quality sensors building the world's most precise environmental health dataset.
The Team
Founder
Alexander is the founder and creator of AIRONAUT and is currently completing his PhD at Imperial College London on the health effects of air pollution. He is a registered founder supported by Imperial College Enterprise Labs. In 2023, he received the National Doctoral Student Prize from the Aerosol Society UK for best PhD proposal, along with the Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Prize from the UK EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Aerosol Science. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences, an MSc in Immunology, and has completed an MRes in Aerosol Science within his PhD.
Co-founder & Medical Advisor
Dr. Anne Mitchener is a Consultant Neurosurgeon with over 30 years of clinical and academic experience. She holds a BSc in Psychology, a PhD in Neuro-biochemistry, an MBBChir from the University of Cambridge, and FRCS (SN). She has served as Chair and Curator of a Scientific Advisory Board for a successful start-up, Trustee and Chair of the Health Committee for a major charitable trust, and currently sits on the Medical Advisory Board of a major hospital. Her evidence-led approach to patient care underpins AIRONAUT\'s strategy in empirical validation and measurable health impact.
